Driver impeller ( pump) mounted directly to the coupling’ s input shaft ( power source side) 2. Driven impeller ( turbine) mounted to the fluid coupling’ s output ( load side) 3. Cover attached to the driven impeller by an oil tight perimeter bolt flange The first two components listed above can act as either a pump or as a turbine, and these type couplings can handle input power up to 3, 400 horsepower ( 2, 500 kW) .
